In 1990, Theresa opened one of the first aromatherapy bars in the United States and by 1996 launched an aromatherapy education facility at Touch the Earth (one of her retail locations), where she hosted many of the leading aromatherapy educators including Gabriel Mojay. Theresa has been awarded Best of Baltimore a record of five times. She has been featured in Aromatic Thymes magazine and other local publications.
Theresa has studied with many of the renowned aromatherapy leaders in the industry including Gabriel Mojay, Robert Tisserand, Kurt Schnaubelt, Michael Sholes, Dr. Dietrich Gumbel, Jimm Harrison, Mindy Green, Valerie Cooksley, Shirley and Len Price, Andrea Butje, Suzanne Caddy, natural perfumer Kathryn Degraff, and many others. She is a professional member of the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy, the Alliance of International Aromatherapists, and the American Essential Oil Trade Association.
Theresa is a volunteer at the R Adams Cowley Shock and Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center. In 2012, she worked with the hospital’s Integrative Medicine Team and created natural products to prevent any type of skin reaction post-transplant for the world’s most extensive face transplant patient at the time. Her custom skin-nourishing products and essential oil synergies provided emotional and physical healing. SoBotanical has also provided custom synergy blends for Johns Hopkins Hospital for the past decade.
In addition to her aromatherapy and natural perfuming education, Theresa is certified massage therapist with advanced-level training in craniosacral and somato-emotional release from the Upledger Institute. In an eleven-year span, she provided over 6,000 massages with individual custom aromatherapy treatments.
Theresa lives in Baltimore, Maryland with her husband Greg Cangialosi and daughter Gabriella, pictured above. When Theresa is not helping others, she enjoys gardening, yoga, traveling, and being with nature.
